Abqavi salt mine

Salt exists in nature as rock in mines. Due to the presence of soluble and insoluble impurities, as well as heavy metals, rock salt cannot be directly consumed by humans, and for this purpose, it must go through the process of purification and purification in salt refining factories. Today, apart from food, rock salt is used in many major industries, the most important of which can be widely used in oil and petrochemical industries, drinking water and urban sewage treatment plants, hardening water used in factories, preparing animal feed, poultry and Abzian pointed out factories producing detergents and also in order to deal with road ice in the cold seasons of the year. 

The Abqavi salt mining complex is located at 35 km of the old Neishabur – Sabzevar road, on the north side of the Khorasan steel complex. The area of this mining complex is about 5 square kilometers and in addition to the size of the salt zone, it has the highest quality of salt among other mines in Greater Khorasan province. The age of this mine is more than 100 years and the traces of salt extraction can be seen in the tunnel and old wells of the mine. Since 1366, this mine has been operated by Abqavi Salt Mine Cooperative in full compliance with the relevant standards and principles of mining engineering.

Due to the high abundance of rock salt and the unique quality of the raw material in this mine, as well as the very favorable reserves in it, the mining operations are carried out simultaneously in various tunnels and tunnels. According to the results of official and standard tests, the purity of the extracted product is between 97 and 99%, so that in the tunnels and corridors, the glassy and shiny surfaces of the salt can be easily seen at a depth of 70 meters. 
70% of the salt harvested from Abqawi mine is sent to recrystallization salt factories for purification, and after complete purification and addition of iodine, it is sent to the market. The processed salt of this mine has been exported to Afghanistan, Turkey, Russia and Armenia.
